The Good Friday service is a somber service that commemorates the crucifixion of Jesus. It includes readings from the Bible, prayers, and hymns. The cross is brought into the church after the procession; the Lord’s Supper also is observed during the service. Good Friday is a day of mourning, a time to reflect on Christ’s suffering and death, and to contemplate one’s own death to sin. Christians believe that Jesus’ death on Good Friday made it possible for sins to be forgiven and for people to enter the presence of God. Join us at noon on Friday, April 18, at St. John’s Episcopal Church, 401 Live Oak Ave.
