The Rev. Christie Hord, RectorThe Rev. Christie Hord is the Rector of St. John’s Episcopal Church. She has served as Rector of St. John’s since September of 2019. Prior to her appointment at St. John’s, she served as Associate Rector of Christ Church Parish in downtown Pensacola. Christie and her family moved to the Pensacola area the summer of 2015. Christie is a Florida native and has spent most of her life on the Gulf Coast. She is an alumna of The Florida State University (B.A. 2000 Cum Laude), where she majored in Political Science and Criminology. She attended seminary at The Virginia Theological Seminary (M.Div.) where she completed an honor’s thesis “Keith Ward: for the Academy and the Church.”
Christie was ordained to the priesthood in July 2015. She is currently pursuing her Doctorate of Ministry degree in Christian Spirituality at Virginia Theological Seminary.
Rev. Christie Hord lives in Gulf Breeze, Florida, with her husband, Rick Hord, and their youngest daughter Anne Mae. Their oldest daughter, Mattie, is a young adult in college. The Hord family shares their abode with a fun-loving dog named Pepper and an adventurous cat named Rowan, and a furry guinea pig named Patrick. They tend to four delightful egg-laying chickens. Christie prefers the outdoors and the coastal lifestyle. She enjoys surfing, sailing, reading and writing. She loves afternoon tea, organic food, and travel.

Assisting Clergy
The Rev. Ted Kirchharr, Assisting Clergy
The Rev. Ted Kirchharr serves St. John’s as assisting clergy. Ted received his Certificate in Theology from the Seminary of the Southwest in June 2024 and was ordained a priest here at a service at St. John’s on Dec. 11, 2024.
Ted has spent his career in both the public and private sectors in a variety of leadership roles. Ted served the School District of Escambia County for nearly 20 years, working in the areas of transportation, food service, facilities planning, maintenance, information technology and the central warehouse. He served as Deputy Superintendent and Assistant Superintendent for Operations.
Ted joined Landrum Human Resources in the fall of 2003 as the Director of Strategic Initiatives. Ted oversaw quality improvement initiatives including Landrum’s involvement in Florida’s organizational improvement effort, the Governor’s Sterling Award (GSA) for Performance Excellence.
In 2017 Ted joined Studer Education and served as a Leader Coach working with a variety of organizations across the country. Ted worked with the executive teams at school districts, universities, an academic medical center and child development centers on deploying continuous improvement, employee and customer engagement tactics and strategies as well as developing and implementing strategic plans.
Ted joined the City of Pensacola in October 2019 as Director of Human Resources. Ted is responsible meeting the HR requirements of the 800+ employees of the City as the serve the residents of the City of Pensacola.
Ted is very active in the community, having had leadership positions on the boards of the United Way, YMCA, Autism Pensacola and Chain Reaction among others. He has served Rotary International as Club President, District Governor, The Rotary Foundation District Chair and a host of other roles.
Ted is married to Susan and has four daughters, Colleen, Emily, Claire and Juliana.
