The Rev. Christie Hord, RectorThe Rev. Christie Hord is the Rector of St. John’s Episcopal Church. She has served as Rector of St. John’s since September of 2019. Prior to her appointment at St. John’s, she served as Associate Rector of Christ Church Parish in downtown Pensacola. Christie and her family moved to the Pensacola area the summer of 2015. Christie is a Florida native and has spent most of her life on the Gulf Coast. She is an alumna of The Florida State University (B.A. 2000 Cum Laude), where she majored in Political Science and Criminology. She attended seminary at The Virginia Theological Seminary (M.Div.) where she completed an honor’s thesis “Keith Ward: for the Academy and the Church.”
Christie was ordained to the priesthood in July 2015. She is currently pursuing her Doctorate of Ministry degree in Christian Spirituality at Virginia Theological Seminary.
Rev. Christie Hord lives in Gulf Breeze, Florida, with her husband, Rick Hord, and their youngest daughter Anne Mae. Their oldest daughter, Mattie, is a young adult in college. The Hord family shares their abode with a fun-loving dog named Pepper and an adventurous cat named Rowan, and a furry guinea pig named Patrick. They tend to four delightful egg-laying chickens. Christie prefers the outdoors and the coastal lifestyle. She enjoys surfing, sailing, reading and writing. She loves afternoon tea, organic food, and travel.
